You read a book, you underline half of it, and six months later you remember the title and nothing else. The method is in there. You just never use it. So turn it into a Claude skill instead. A skill is a set of instructions Claude loads by itself when the task comes up, so the book's method runs on your actual work without you remembering any of it. 1. Pick a book with a method Skip fiction and memoirs. The test: can you describe what the book teaches as numbered steps? If yes, it works. 2. Pull the system out Answer five things. What problem it solves. The steps in order. The rules the author repeats. The mistakes it warns against. The questions it makes you ask yourself. 3. Build it In claude.ai, ask for the skill-creator and paste this: "Use skill-creator to build a skill from [BOOK] by [AUTHOR]. It should activate when I ask you to [exact task]. Method: steps [paste], rules [paste], mistakes [paste], questions [paste]. Interview me on anything missing before you write it." 4. Test it before you install it Ask for the same thing five different ways, including the lazy phrasings you would actually type. If it only fires when you word it perfectly, the description is too narrow. Widen it. 5. Install it Settings, Capabilities, switch on code execution. Then Customize, Skills, add it.
