Anthropic is hiring for a Research Data Platform role — and this is one of those AI jobs that software engineers should study closely. Because this is not “build a chatbot.” This is not “call an LLM API.” This is the data layer behind frontier AI research. The team builds tools researchers use to manage, query, and understand the data going into training runs, finetuning datasets, RL experiments, and model evaluations. That matters because modern AI research is not just about having better models. It’s about having better experimental infrastructure. Researchers need to know: What data went into this run? Which dataset version changed? Why did this metric move? How do we compare two finetuning experiments? Can we trace results back to the source data? Can we query millions of experiment events quickly? That’s the real insight here. The closer software gets to research workflows, the more valuable it becomes. A strong project for this role would be an ML Research Data Platform. Build a system that ingests experiment logs, dataset metadata, training metrics, and model run results — then lets researchers search, compare, visualize, and trace everything through a clean web UI. That shows you can build data products for technical users, not just generic dashboards. And in today’s AI market, that is a serious signal. #Anthropic #SoftwareEngineering #AIInfrastructure #DataEngineering #TechCareers
