this startup larped so hard that it literally got cancelled. This is some serious YC ball knowledge. In fact, the situation got so bad that the CEO of Y Combinator, Gary Tan, had to write an apology for defending them. So this is the story of Pear AI. Basically, what happened was these two guys were like, hey, we built the greatest AI agent integrated code editor of all time. It's got the greatest agents, the biggest agents. But when they actually released, one of the founders was like, I left my 280k Coinbase job to pursue this. This is the best thing ever. And people looked at the code for it and were like, oh man, you just copied another YC startup and renamed literally everything that they did and changed their license. So that is like borderline fraudulent, right? They are larping way too close to the sun on this one. And because of that, they had to totally rebrand. And I guess it didn't really go anywhere. So the moral of the story here is that even though people like to say that all publicity is good publicity, sometimes all it really does is it destroys your community and it destroys your reputation.
