law school and these three habits that have literally changed my whole entire one L or my first year of law school ever. Prior to law school, I have never been a breakfast person just because I'm not a morning person. So it's hard for me to wake up earlier than I need to in order to get ready and have breakfast. So I will usually just have very something quick and easy. But I recognized that having breakfast is so important because it will dictate my entire appetite for the entire day. And also depending on what I have in the morning, that will literally change my mood, how efficient I am and how focused I can be and how good my brain is working. So after starting law school, I decided to try breakfast and have something more whole foods and like good with fiber, nutrient and protein dense instead of something more carby or too sweet. And that has just been a huge, huge life changer. The second is having a very consistent schedule and just making sure my body is up to date on the circadian rhythm that my body is used to having a structured schedule. So when you're sleeping time and your waking time, when you have breakfast, lunch, like meals and all that change, your body starts to be very unstable. So I recognized it's really important to set a very steady like night routine and morning routine and a set time when I can go to sleep and when I wake up, even when I don't have classes or like whatever it is, just because I'm feeling really tired and I don't want to exert any more energy on walking and biking. But because I don't have time to exercise that much during the day, I try to walk or just get a little bit of exercise as much as I can. And that will also change my mood. These are so basic, but they have really just changed and structured my entire one L experience because I'm a huge believer that your body needs to feel good in order to you to feel good and for your brain to function to its highest possibility. So even if it feels very small, just make sure you're taking small habits to make sure that you're taking care of yourself. The third is walking or getting some type of exercise as much as possible. Because I do go to school in DC, which I think is a pretty walkable city. I try to walk or bike as much as possible. But there are times when I do take the bus to and from school or like take the train or whatever it is, just because I'm feeling really tired and I don't want to exert any more energy on walking and biking. But because I don't have time to exercise that much during the day, I try to walk or just get a little bit of exercise as much as I can. And that will also change my mood.
