This is exactly how I would learn SQL and Python for free in 2026 if I had to start all over again. First thing you need to do is start with SQL. It is the number one skill for any data role. Data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, you need to know SQL. SQLZoo and Mode Analytics have free interactive lessons that teach you how to actually think in SQL. Spend about 30 minutes a day on real data set from Kaggle and then focus on select, join, group by and window functions. This is basically your foundation in SQL. Then move on to Python. My tip here is to focus on the role that you are learning Python for. If you are getting into data analysis, then of course freeCodeCamp and Codecademy are great starting points. I would suggest focusing on Python Pandas library for cleaning data and basic visuals and data analysis and data manipulation. This is basically all you need. After learning both language, you will use AI to practice. Give yourself basically a challenge, do it yourself first, then ask AI to review it and figure out what you are getting wrong. Once you have the basics down, then build three projects. A product sales analysis, a customer retention analysis and a dashboard in Tableau or Power BI. Basically you are going to build a portfolio that helps you stand out in the job market. You are going to add it to your resume, your LinkedIn, your Github and of course you already knew all of this because you follow me. Let me know what I should cover in the next video.
