With decades of experience working with both plants and animals, his early career focused on arachnids—particularly Texas native tarantulas. His work in the field led to the identification of a species named in his honor, Aphonopelma moellendorfi, one of only a handful of known tarantula species native to Texas. After 26 years with ZooKeeper, he became a well-known figure within the hobby. Today, he brings that same depth of knowledge and passion to his work at Carnivero.
