A big part of the reason that your mechanic is taking so long to get your car diagnosed and it's costing you so much money is because of the technological advances that you as the consumer do not get to see. And the rear window on this 2014 Genesis is not working. On this day, our prime example. Because it does not use the power window switches. It uses power window modules. Hey guys, Check Engine Chuck here and today, everything's a module. The rear window on this car will not go up or down from the driver's master switch or the individual switches on the rear doors. Modules. As a technician of today, a lot of my diagnosing time is spent reading, understanding operating principles and looking at wiring diagrams such as this. And then finally getting hands on the car and trying to figure out how I can decipher if our issue is going to be the master switch or one of these switches on the rear doors. Both of these switches, or a bad wire. Let's dig in. Looking at our diagram, pins one and four are going to be our main powers and grounds. And we have good power. And we have good ground. I'm not gonna load test those circuits yet. But I am going to try to move the window up and down using the two pins that go to the window motor, which would be blue and white. Where I was going to, but I don't even see continuity here. Typically, I would power up one and this would send ground to the other, which would make it go up or down. But I don't see continuity here. So that makes me think the wire or the motor is bad. It is so rare that both sides would go out at the same time. But I have seen it. And unfortunately, this industry is still filled with a lot of lazy guess work. So, if you find a shop that takes a little bit more time, it might be a little bit more expensive because they are a lot bit more meticulous. That's probably the shop to stick with. And until then, I'll keep attempting to do everything I can to make this industry better for everybody. How many of you would have been sold a master window switch for the price of $612? Because it's not to work and hopefully, hopefully, they don't install them. I'm going to check the price on that.
