Hook
Okay, so when weeds are little, okay, and yes, there's a lot of weeds in here and we think it might have come from the mulch. But when they only have one set of what look like leaves, they're actually not leaves. Those are called cotyledons and they are packaged up inside the seed. So as soon as the seed gets warm, moist conditions, it pops open and these pop up right away. These weren't grown. They are by default inside the seed. So this tells me that it hasn't really grown yet and there's not much of a root system because this root was also packaged up by the mother plant inside the seed. So this all comes in pops open as it is, so it hasn't grown yet. That means I don't need to worry about pulling all the roots out 'cause it hasn't put any out yet. So when you take a hoe, I don't have one in my hand, but you take a hoe that just goes underneath and just rips all that up. That's all you need to do. You don't need to come out and hand pull this. So this is why when we come out in the spring especially and we see all the new spring weeds, if we can take a push hoe or a pull hoe, I like a Dutch push hoe is my favorite, but we just need to snap that plant off. It will not grow anymore. Done. You don't need to come in here and spend three days trying to pull that out.
