Do This Now for Fall! It's late July and don't hate me for saying this but it's time to start planning for fall Out here in your vegetable, flower and herb garden It's time to start sowing your seeds in late July for your fall harvest Remember, there's a summer growing season when most of us grow our warm season tender annuals that don't like frost like tomatoes and eggplant and zucchini and peppers But there's also cool season crops some of which already grew in the spring and now they don't look so good because they don't like the heat of summer So those cool season crops we can also grow again in the fall Let me show you what I am gonna be sowing seeds for for fall this year So I'm going with carrots I'm also doing all my cool season lettuces and spinach arugula, and spinach And I love me some sugar snap peas A few other cool season crops radishes which grow very fast, beets, kale, collards Kale radishes which grow very fast, beets, kale, collards And don't forget cilantro is a cool season herb just like dill so you should sow that now for lots of leaves and less bolting in the fall And even some summer crops like dragon tongue beans or blue lake bush beans these will be ready to harvest in 55 days So if I plant them now in late July I'm gonna have beans in September which is a month before the frost So if you have any warm tender annuals that have a harvest window, right it'll say on the package days to harvest, less than 60 you can sow them now I'd love to hear in the comments where do you live and when do you sow your fall season crops And I'd love to know what your favorite fall season crops are
