Building My own eReader With An App

I'm working on building my own personal eReader with its own desktop app and I wanted to show you all how it's going. This is a project that I've been working on for a bit that I'm calling my Beary Cute eReader. It's meant to be both an eReader and a mini journal. To build this, I used an ESP32, a 2.4 inch LCD module, three buttons for navigation, and an SD card reader with a 32 GB micro SD card to store the data. When the eReader first boots up, you can see on the main menu that we have a Library, Journal, and Settings. The Library is where I keep all of my books. Right now, I only have one called The Body Keeps the Score. And the Journal is where I store little notes with my thoughts and ideas. Building this was super fun, but I knew I also needed a way to upload content onto it, to make this process a little easier. So my solution was to make a desktop app, especially made for my eReader to make this process a little easier. First thing I have to do is plug in my eReader to unlock the application. And once it detects that my eReader is plugged in, it turns into this bear shaped app where I can upload and delete books and journal entries from my eReader. For example, I would love to add one of my favorite childhood books called Because of Winn-Dixie. As long as I have the epub file for that specific book, I can just drag and drop it into my application, click upload, and it uploads right onto my eReader. And to create a new journal or note, all I have to do is click on Journal, click new entry, and it opens up this form where I can select my mood, give it a title, and write in my entry. Once I click save, it gets automatically uploaded onto my eReader and I can access it there. I won't lie, this project was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. The UI on both the device and the desktop app needs tons of work. But once that's done, I will come back with another update! I'm really excited to show you guys the final product.
