I recently made a video covering tools and resources you'd need if you want to get started with engineering projects. And I got a lot of questions asking if I can include the price of each item. And honestly, I'd love to. Because I think getting started with engineering is a lot more affordable and accessible than many people think. So here's some things you'll need with prices! Here's some things you'll need if you want to get started with engineering projects, with prices included. Microcontroller The most important item you'll need is a microcontroller, which can range anywhere from as low as $8 for this pink Raspberry Pi Pico to as high as $53 for this Raspberry Pi 3. And trust me, they can get way more expensive than this. ESP32 Are VERY Popular! And for good reason! I highly recommend an ESP32, which you can get a pack of two of these for a little under $40. Breadboards You'll need at least one breadboard to wire your components together. I highly recommend starting with larger breadboards if you're just starting out. A pack of breadboards usually costs less than $10. Buttons These buttons are extremely common and useful in engineering projects, so you'll need a lot of these. The good news is you can get a pack of 120 buttons for as low as $6. Breadboard Jumper Wires To wire your components together on the breadboard, you'll need pin jumper wires. I highly recommend getting these pin jumper wires, which you can get a pack of like 840 for around $9. And male to female jumper wires, which you can get a sorted pack of over 100 for about $7. OLED / LCD Screens You'll likely want some LED screens to display some user interface and much higher quality. For example, for this pack of these tiny black and white screens, I got a pack of 5 for about $15. But for this much larger screen that supports color and much higher quality, I got one of these for $18. Buzzer And finally, if you want some sound, you'd most likely want to get a passive buzzer.
