Hi excuse me miss! I just want to ask, do you run a business? What type of business is that? I have a cafe bakery. Can I follow you and have a business tour real quick? Okay okay, let's go! Why are you doing this type of business? Been my passion lah since I was small. My partner pun suka makan dessert so I think, why not? How is it being a partner with your own husband? We do support each other lah. So I think.. we don't see an eye to eye for certain things but we work it out. So this is your cafe. What is it called? Cake Jalan Tiung. Why is the name Cake Jalan Tiung? Jalan Tiung is actually our house, we started from home. We used to bake at home, and then after that.. it went quite okay. So we thought hey, this is a viable business. So why not we open a shop. We still want our loyal customer to associate with our bakery kan? So we still use Jalan Tiung. Basically this is our bakes for today lah. But 2 weeks we change our menu. Do you yourself like still bake? I still do, I love baking. I still come here almost every day, I still come here almost every day. Yes, sure! Can we go to the.. your workplace? Hello, hello! This is where we bake everything. How long does it take for you to bake one thing? For example like our best seller lah, the Salted Caramel Cake. To bake everything from start to finish maybe it will take about 3 to 4 hours. Before this you say you started from house right? How much do you need to start the business? After 5 to 7 years, we open this one. Roughly about 500k together with the equipment and everything. Oh, RM500k total? Which one is the most expensive item? The working horse, this one! How much is that? When we got it was about.. RM40,000. Very good investment. I think that's your working horse you should invest in it lah. What is the revenue right now? Probably about.. RM90,000 - RM100,000. Now you have your own cafe and this right? what is the biggest challenge and sacrifice? Basically time lah. Physically it's also very tiring, needs a lot of our attention lah. I think running any business would need that. Need to think about strategy, what's the next step that I should do, how do I attract people and things like that. What is the biggest business decision that give you the biggest chance? I think the biggest decision was actually to take the risk to take the plunge to actually open a business lah. Like to put yourself out there. Scary lah, the first one like will people actually come or not? 10 years ago.. I think our first outlet was at upstairs. It was not really known lah for you to open Cake punya cafe especially in Shah Alam lah. Recipe semua ni kan all these you kata every 2 weeks pun you tukar-tukar, mana datang recipe ni semua? Banyak inspiration lah, buku. I have a lot of baking books, especially actually from my mom. What is your advice to people who wants to start this kind of business? There's a lot of people who wants to venture into businesses right now. I think you must know what you want to sell and it has to be something unique lah. It cannot be like.. apa apa yang biasa. So how are you unique to other or to the customers lah. Once you drill down and.. you dah macam tahu roughly 80% of your plan lah, just do it. Jangan macam fikir.. banyak sangat juga lah.
