Number 10, Skull.
The lightest and
the only party
game on my list.
I don't know
why, but playing
Skull almost reminds
me of playing poker,
and I really
like poker players.
Players place either a
flower coaster face down.
On your turn, you can
play another coaster
or bet on
how many coasters
you can flip
without revealing a skull.
It's such a
simple game, but
I love bluffing,
mind games, and
trying to trick
everyone at the table.
At number 9,
Nemesis Retaliation.
This game would
probably be higher
on my list
if I had the chance to
play it more.
In Nemesis Retaliation,
you play as marines who are
much better equipped
to deal with
the aliens. Uh.
From last time?
In the other games,
your goal is
to complete your objective,
which sometimes means
stabbing your fellow
marines in the back.
I would never
do that. Okay,
I usually pick
that objective,
complete your mission,
and survive.
Sounds easy enough,
nope. Surviving this
game is incredibly difficult.
Number 8, Clank!
Legacy. I really
enjoy legacy games
and I already
love Clank,
so when the
first Clank Legacy
had to get it.
Throughout the campaign
your characters gain
better cards,
and just like
you're trying to
grab treasure without
dying from the dragon
while following a
really entertaining story.
The game uses
deck building for
movement, combat,
and abilities. I
played the second
Clank Legacy,
know. I still
like one better.
And number 7,
Castles of Burgundy.
If this were
my wife's list,
Castles of Burgundy
would be easily no.
1 because she
always wins every time.
Even though I don't win very often,
I really enjoy using the dice
to acquire tiles
to build up
your duchy.
Different tiles score
in different ways,
end score bonuses,
grouping tiles together,
animals, coins.
Get points for
just about everything
in this game.
And who doesn't
like points?
There's a surprising
amount of strategy
that revolves around
rolling dice.
Six Lost Ruins
of Arnak. This
one actually surprised me.
Lost Ruins of
Arnak has climbed
my list
ever since I
got the Expedition
Twisted Paths expansion.
The base game
is already great,
but the expansions
make it even better.
In the game,
your adventurers exploring
a mysterious jungle,
researching ancient ruins,
discovering new sites,
and overcoming guardians.
It combines deck
building and worker placement,
resources and draft
new cards.
Every time we
go hiking, it
always makes me
want to come home and play
this game.
