Windows 11 only needs 8 gigs of RAM. And Linux runs on 64 megabytes. I use Arch btw. So Microsoft says that you only need 8 gigabytes of memory now to run Windows 11. Windows 11... only. So you shouldn't be depressed. Meanwhile, a version of Linux called TinyCore boots, browses the web, and does real work on 64... not gigabytes. Megabytes. It's the same internet, the same year. But one of these needs about 60 times less than the other. And you know what? It gets dumber, because we landed on the moon with a computer that had about 4 kilobyte of memory. Four! Your phone wallpaper holds more data than the entire Apollo flight software. So suddenly, suddenly "need" 32 gigs or whatever. Well, it's one word really. Software. Bloat. Software keeps piling on background junk. I'm talking telemetry, ads, and AI assistance that we never asked for. The memory requirement just climbs in order to cover. But you know what? Got me. Right now, in crisis, Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron sued for alleged memory price-fixing. Price-fixing that bloat costs real money. You're paying cartel prices for gigabytes. You only need because your software won't go on a diet. And Linux nerds that everyone calls insufferable have been running modern, free computers on a fraction of the hardware this entire time. They were so annoying. They were so right. It's gotten so bad, that I've got people saying the only thing that Linux really needs is electricity. Point. And then that may actually be optional. Following me is free. And required! You're just kidding, it's fine. You can do whatever you want.
