Peter, I bought more RAM for my PC. Windows consumed it so fast I'm beginning to suspect it's secretly running NASA in the background. Wait, doesn't Windows need like 8 GB of RAM just to run now? Yep. Meanwhile, there's a version of Linux called Tiny Core Linux that boots, browses the web, and does real work on just 64 megabytes. Megabytes? That's not even enough for Chrome to be disappointed. Exactly. Same internet, same year. One operating system wants gigabytes, the other survives on what Windows uses to display the loading spinner. Didn't we landed on the moon with about 4 kilobytes of memory? Even my phone wallpaper is literally carrying more data than the Apollo Guidance Computer. So why does every PC suddenly need 32 gigs of RAM? One word: bloat. Telemetry, background services, ads, AI features nobody asked for. Software keeps getting bigger, so your wallet keeps getting smaller. So, we upgraded hardware so software could develop a calorie surplus. That means the Linux people have been right this whole time? Unfortunately, yes. Beautiful. They've spent 20 years being the most annoying people in tech, and somehow they were also the correct ones. Follow for more insane tech facts!
