You gotta name the business because that's the only way to hold anyone accountable. Pt. 2 is customer service dead? Answering your questions. I didn't mention my last video because you guys obviously had a lot to say and there's a lot of questions that came from it that I want to address. So the first question that came up was why did I not mention the business's name in my last video? I didn't mention the business's name because I actually genuinely care about small businesses and I understand the power of social media, which some would argue that's the reason why I should mention the small business's name. However, I don't think that one experience is or should constitute like somebody losing their entire business. Operations now, I will say admittedly, this apparently is not the first time that this business has had an issue, which I wish I would have done my research further on this cake shop. But the Google reviews actually, I mean there's a lot of positive ones because I think the cake is objectively good, but there's a lot of people talking about the poor experiences that they've had. So if you genuinely care about making sure that you don't have a similar experience, my number one advice would be read your Google reviews before you decide to do business. And if you're somebody who feels passionately about holding small businesses accountable, then be the type of person to leave Google reviews so that people can know what they're walking into. Also, I should mention this too, I really do believe businesses that operate shady, grimy, don't show up well, like they're going to eventually run themselves into the ground. So I don't need to like be part of that catalyst. If they don't get it together, and hopefully even just my call was like a wake up call for them, like if they don't get it together, they're going to eventually lose customers. I mean, a business cannot stand for long periods of time doing business like that. I don't care how good the product is. A few of you guys asked me why did I not travel to the shop and just show up in person? I didn't travel to the shop because it is like a 45 minute to an hour train ride away from where I am. It is really close to the venue that we were celebrating at, but it's not close to my home. So the idea of like just popping up was not realistic for me. So then that leads to another question that you guys asked, which is why were you so committed to this cake shop? Why didn't you just, you know, get a refund after day one and go to a different cake shop? The reason why I didn't is because my best friend, this is her favorite cake in the world, and she mentioned it like maybe like, I don't know, a year ago we were somewhere and she's like, this cake, I mean this shop has like the best cake ever. And so when she mentioned it like a year ago, I made a mental note and I was like, when her birthday comes around, I'm definitely getting her a cake from here. And so you're right, and I totally would have in other instances just canceled the cake and brought, you know, a different one in, but because it was a surprise and because it was her birthday, I wanted to get it from this shop. Another topic of conversation in the comments that I saw was the debate between whether or not I should have gotten the cake redelivered plus the refund, like whether I was owed both. Like first and foremost, nobody's ever owed anything, but that's the point and me requesting it is like, I know I'm not owed this. You don't have to do this as a business owner, but that's what customer service is. It's recognizing that I messed up, I value this customer and I want to make it right by any means necessary. Yeah, I don't want to have to come out of pocket $80, but if I didn't do or if I didn't hold up my end of the contract, then I should be going above and beyond to make things right in the end. Okay, and then finally the question of whether or not I got my refund and whether or not I got the cake delivered. Yes, the cake was redelivered on that Monday and I did end up getting a refund like a day later. So, and the reason, another reason why I really don't want to mention the name of the business in the video is the fact that they did end up making it right in the end. My point of the video was more so like, I shouldn't have even had to ask to do that. When I called you, and I shouldn't have had to, you know, chase you down either, but like when I finally got in contact with you, I'm expecting you to go above and beyond. Why do I have to like beg for the bare minimum and probably what most people objectively agree in the comments should be a given.
