If you don't know what to look for when buying affordable jewelry, I'm going to show you what's worth buying, what's not, and why. And no BS ever. I have a feeling this isn't going to go very well. But you guys insisted. Here's the full jewelry section at my Target. It is very small. And you have to remember this is all going to be fashion jewelry. Let's start with looking at some of the pieces from A New Day. First thing I always look at is the gold tone. And these two pieces are looking good, but this one right here is looking a little pink. And as I move further down, I'm looking closer at the dainty pieces and they all turned. That chain is not supposed to be silver. It's supposed to be gold. And it's supposed to be gold plated stainless steel. The description on this piece is very vague and it's lacking important details. I would put this back immediately. It is $14.99. Whenever the brand doesn't disclose the material on the back, I always look at the website. The material line on this piece literally says steel, not stainless steel, just steel with a metallic gold finish. It's very vague and it's lacking important details. I would put this back immediately. Also brands will just say steel and only the post is sterling silver. Not the actual hoops. So maybe small components might be sterling silver, but it's not a full sterling silver piece. And that right there should tell you everything you need to know. This one looked pretty good, so let's look at the back and see if they share any of the materials. This literally tells me nothing except that it's $14.99. Whenever the brand doesn't disclose the material on the back, I always look at the website. It doesn't disclose the base metal. All it says is nickel free, which really doesn't tell me much. And it's silver plated and it does not disclose the thickness of the plating. I mean, visually it's okay, but for long-term wear, it is trash. Besides the Hey Harper brand, I would say everything here is just cheap, cheap plated jewelry. If you take away anything from this video, let it be to not be fooled by marketing claims. Let's check out Hey Harper next. One thing I immediately appreciate about this is that they actually disclose the materials, which is 14k gold plated and stainless steel. Seeing steel is a very durable and corrosion resistant material. The gray alternative, if you want to find jewelry you can wear every day, you want to find jewelry that is 100% non-tarnish. And what I don't like about stainless steel is that the gold tone leans a little bit brown, like almost antique looking. And that to me is something that I'm not drawn to and I refuse to stack with my other pieces. I'm very picky about tones. It does have some bold marketing claims on the package, like this right here, 100% non-tarnish. And on the back it says the original waterproof jewelry brand. I don't love the marketing because nothing is 100% non-tarnish and completely waterproof besides fine jewelry. The material underneath is stainless steel, but this is still gold plating at the top. And this can definitely wear off over time. I did look it up and they do have a lifetime color warranty. So if anything changes color, they'll replace it for you for free. And I like that. So if you don't mind the stainless steel tones, I'm going to say stack for Hey Harper. All of these pieces here say demi fine collection at the top. You guys aren't going to believe this, but demi fine is also a marketing term. The term demi fine isn't regulated, so a brand can use it even when a piece is just gold plated brass. So you know what I'm going to say? Look at the materials online. And what do you think this collection is? It's 14k gold plated brass. And of course, they don't disclose the plating thickness. Visually it's okay, but for long-term wear, it is trash.
