I'm on a mission to visit long-standing businesses that have been around for decades and still keep things old-school. This is Empanadas Las Peñas, a Chilean empanada bakery in Noble Park that's been running for 35 years. Sebastian still makes everything from scratch, handmade and prepared in-house, from baked to fried empanadas, with over 10 flavors from just $5 each. I love the no-fuss bakery vibe and it feels like they know every customer that walks in and that's what makes places like this so special. My father actually started this shop in 1990. He actually started from home. He had an oven, a table like this one that you've got here where he would do all the empanadas from home. He did that for the first year. This was probably in about 1988, 1989, 1990. He decided to take the plunge because he had so many people flying in empanadas, but he just went in and he got this store and we've been here ever since. Sebastian, he makes everything from scratch, handmade and prepared in-house, from baked to fried empanadas, with over 10 flavors from just $5 each. I love the no-fuss bakery vibe and it feels like they know every customer that walks in and that's what makes places like this so special.
