HORSE IS FINALLY

I think my horse is finally ready to be ridden again, which is slightly terrifying because I've been talking about this moment for months. If you've been following my series, the plan has always been to turn my fat horse into a competition horse. When I first started, I genuinely thought I'd be riding way sooner. Turns out getting a horse fit isn't just a case of saying, let's crack on. Who would have thought? So instead, we've taken it one step at a time. Lots of lunging, pole work, walking, and a lot of me standing there pretending I know what I'm doing. Every session I've been looking for the smaller improvements. Is she moving freely? Is she building strength? Is she actually enjoying herself? Like the answer is finally starting to come. She's moving better than she was a few months ago, and most importantly, she doesn't look at me like I've completely ruined her day anymore. Now, don't get me wrong, we're nowhere near finished. This is probably just the beginning, but I don't think waiting another month is suddenly going to change everything. Looking back, I don't actually regret taking things this slowly and it's 100% changed our relationship for the better. No! Mouse, mouse! Stop! Well, except for Mouse trying to steal my food, of course. And at some point, you've just got to take the next step. So I think Mouse is ready, which unfortunately means I have to be ready as well. Well, let's see how it goes.
