Hook

Good morning. Today is July the 7th, 2026 and the CDC has put out a warning for a parasite called Cyclospora. Um, basically this is called explosive diarrhea. There's been this, um, going around in multiple hospitals. There's been about 400 cases in the US all together and about, um, anywhere from 14 to 18 states, um, ranging in different states. Basically, um, it is spread by produce being contaminated through fecal matter, which is poop. Um, most of it's been found in raspberries, lettuce, basically all the fruits and vegetables. The main symptoms for the Cyclospora include fever, chills, severe abdominal cramping, um, nausea, vomiting, but mostly it's explosive diarrhea on controllable, just constantly using the restroom. There have been lots of reports of hospitals days where people have to get hydration because they can't stop having explosive diarrhea. Um, it can typically be treated with antibiotics. So, no fear there. Also, this is not a new parasite. This has been around for a while. So I don't want anybody to panic. This is just spreading awareness so everybody knows what's going on. The CDC is advising everybody to wash their fruits and vegetables before they eat them. Either with apple cider vinegar, regular vinegar, and then, um, baking soda, let it soak for a few minutes in there, um, rinse it off accordingly. Um, this is basically how it's spreading. It does not spread from person to person, only from somebody having, you know, the fecal matter then touching the fruit and then the fruit not being washed properly and then eating it. So if you do have these symptoms and signs, make sure you go get treatment and follow up with your doctor or go to the emergency room if it's really bad.
