If your ZZ plant is looking half dead, please do not throw it away. If you prune it in this specific way, it will grow many new shoots from 2 to 3 cm above the root base. Cut here. Before pruning, it is best to wipe your scissors with alcohol for sterilization. Then cut off all these poorly growing branches. After pruning, try your best to keep the wound area dry. Place it in a well-ventilated area with indirect light and fertilize it to replenish nutrients. Keep temperatures between 15 and 20 degrees while pruning. New branches will grow in about 2 months. I am sharing my personal tips and experience for pruning ZZ plants.
