If your ZZ plant is looking half dead, please do not throw it away. If you prune it this way, it will grow many new shoots from just above the root base. Cut it at 2 to 3 cm before you start pruning. It is best to wipe your scissors with alcohol for sterilization, then remove all branches that are growing poorly. After pruning, try to keep the wounded areas away from water. Place it in a well-ventilated area with scattered light for maintenance and fertilize it to replenish nutrients. Prune when temperatures are 15 and 20 degrees. New branches can grow in about 2 months. I am sharing my experience on pruning ZZ plants.
