how it started...

Hello, I'm making this builder basic living room, full more designer. This is my progress so far. I'm a first time homeowner, which means for the first time I have free range to do whatever I want. So I decided to give the room some architectural interest by adding wainscoting. I knew I did not want the space to be sad and beige. So to show my dedication to incorporating color, I went with this 10 by 14 green wool rug from Arvido Lano. I was hoping to find an extra long media console to fill up this wall, but everything was a million and five dollars. So I ended up putting these three accent cabinets together for a much better price. Then it was time to take advantage of these 19 foot ceilings. So I got two story curtains in this pretty taupe color. And from here, I finally pulled the trigger on the trim on my dream Calacatta Viola marble coffee table. But I knew it wasn't best suited for this dark white couch. So I replaced her with something chocolatey brown. Rent friendly hacks still coming handy sometimes. Like when I hung up these antique brass sconces with command strips. To amplify the height of the room even more, I added a 10 and a half foot tall money tree. Then I turned my attention to this area of the room. I brought in this beautiful amber accent chair and did another round of wainscoting to tie it all together. Finally, to start to fill up these walls, I chose some abstract art that I'm still not totally sold on, but it's giving me some inspiration. Much more to do, but I'm loving the progress so far.
