If you're the mother of the bride or the mother of the groom and formal photos make you nervous, this one's your cheat sheet. Turn your body 45 degrees instead of standing square to the camera, that one shift instantly slims your whole silhouette. Keep your weight on one leg, never both, and soften the opposite knee so you're not locked and stiff. For your chin, push your forehead slightly toward the camera instead of pulling your chin back, pulling back is what creates a double chin, pushing forward and down eliminates it. To reduce how your tummy looks, skip clingy fabric through the middle and let your posture do the work, stand tall like a string is pulling you up from the crown of your head, then hinge slightly forward at the hips instead of leaning back. For your expression, look down or away first and bring your eyes up right on cue, that's what gives you a real smile instead of a forced one. Practice this a few times before the big day and it becomes muscle memory, so on wedding day you're not thinking, you're just standing the way you already know works.
