Biomedical engineers here sell products like surgical robots, implants, pacemakers, and other medical technologies. It's not a traditional engineering role, but if you're good at building relationships, the earning potential here can be huge. The next field is working in surgical robots. Mid-career: $170k-$300k. Engineers help design and improve robotic systems that assist surgeons during procedures. So you might be working on the hardware, the electronics, or testing to make sure these systems are safe and precise. The next field is working in medical devices. Mid-career: $150k-$250k. This is one of the biggest industries for biomedical engineers, and you could be helping develop products like prosthetics, patient monitors, or even wearable health devices that improve lives. The next field is biotech and pharmaceuticals. Mid-career: $140k-$250k. You could help manufacture medicines and therapies at large scale. A lot of industry work in process engineering or manufacturing to make sure that products are made safely and efficiently. Typically roles like product design and R&D are more competitive and require more years of experience. Lastly, you have medical imaging. Mid-career: $140k-$230k. This includes technologies like MRI machines, CT scanners, X-ray equipment. Engineers here can help design, test, and improve these systems so doctors can diagnose patients more accurately. One thing to note is that many biomedical engineering graduates start their careers in manufacturing, quality, or process engineering rather than R&D. Typically roles like product design and R&D are more competitive and require more years of experience.
