Jaw tension / clenching For my jaw clenching loves, I need you to hear the part that actually matters. Your jaw isn't the problem. That's the piece that took me way too long to understand. I chased my jaw pain for years with the exact thing we all get told to do, tuck the chin, flatten the neck, sit up "straight," and it never worked because the tension was never local. The front of my body was tight and shut, the back was long and weak, and my jaw was just the loudest place that pattern showed up. Here's the reframe: a tucked chin doesn't relax your jaw, it shortens it and shrinks your airway so you're literally breathing worse all day. And let's be honest, it doesn't even look good. Tucking your chin compresses everything at the front of your throat, makes your jawline look smaller, and gives you a double chin. That's not posture, that's collapse. Your jaw can't rest inside a body that's braced. I have a hypothesis that most clenching isn't a bite issue at all. It's the whole front of you asking for space. Give the throat and belly room and the jaw finally stops holding on. Comment REPATTERN to learn this in my signature class. Love y'all! Dr. Lily #tmjrelief #jawtension #neckpainrelief #bowspring
