Starting at age 60, you would need to invest $14,333 a month to reach $1 million by age 65. Total contributions, $859,980 at age 50, $3,155 a month, total $567,900. At age 40, the starts to become more attainable, you would need to invest $1,052 a month, total $315,600 at age 30. This becomes much more reasonable just $340 a month. Total contributions, $142,800.
