This is one of the clearest examples that building serious wealth is usually less about doing something fancy and more about starting early. Before we dive into the data, please share in the comments here your age and how much you're investing each month. I'm super curious to see how much my audience is actually investing. If you start at age 60, very late in life, you would invest about $64,569 every single month to reach $5 million by age 65. Yes, super unrealistic for most people. At age 50, that number drops to about $12,064 a month. At age 40, you would need about $3,768 a month, still very difficult, but hey, at least we're back on planet Earth. At age 30, it starts to get interesting. You would need about $1,317 a month. Not easy, but it's way more realistic than trying to play catch up later. And then at age 20 is where the math gets wild. If you start investing at age 20, you would personally only contribute around $258,000 to reach $5 million by age 65. Or $477 a month.
