This is currently one of the most disturbing and shocking cases going on in Korea right now. On May 5th, 2026, around 12:00am, 23 year old Jang Yoongi brutally stabbed a 17 year old girl walking home and the 17 year old boy who ran across the street to help the girl screaming was also stabbed. The girl unfortunately did not make it, but the boy who was also stabbed thankfully survived. Jang Yoongi was caught after an 11 hour manhunt and it has been revealed that after committing the crime, he was seen at a coin laundry washing his clothes and he was also seen at a barber shop getting his haircut. He told investigators that he was going to die anyways, so he wanted to take someone with him, which happened to be the innocent high school girl walking home alone. Her family shared her name which was Lee Chaewon. It has also been shared that two days before committing the horrendous crime, Jang assaulted one of his coworkers who was in her 20s and a foreigner. He went to the woman's house early in the morning, and he SA'd her. Taking his behavior towards his coworker as evidence, prosecutors pushed for the heavier m*rder connected with r4pe where he can receive a life sentencing compared to the ordinary m*rder charge that the police filed where he can receive a minimum sentencing of five years. There's more to this story, Jang Yoongi's father and uncle are active duty police officers and it has been revealed that his dad burned two of Jang Yoongi's cell phones. Now people can't not talk about the police monopoly in investigations where people easily get away with crimes because of their connections. What's worse is that there is a family evidence tampering exemption in Korea. Well, we all know destroying evidence is a crime itself. The law in Korea has a special clause. When a relative or family member living with the offender tampers with evidence, basically helping the offender, they are exempt from punishment. Obviously this has triggered massive public backlash in Korea. This is just one of the craziest ongoing cases going on right now..
