the craziest thing has been happening in Korea and the media is now talking about it so let's keep talking about it and raise more awareness on May 12th 37 year old Jang Miran is caught on CCTV leaving her pension in Jeju that she was staying in long term three days later on May 15th her boyfriend calls police saying that he can't get a hold of Jang Miran and reports her missing just two and a half hours later the police calls him back saying oh I got a hold of Jang Miran but she doesn't want you or the family to know where she is And assured the boyfriend that Jang Miran is OK and he closes the (missing report) case and by the way there is no evidence that the police called Jang to make sure that she's okay the worst thing is that if an investigation started when the first call was made there were over 100 CCTVs that could have been tracked down to see where Jang Miran is but by the time the case reopened on July 17th all of the CCTV footages were all deleted as too much time has already passed on August 24th 104 days after the first report of Jang missing her body has been found 400 meters away from her lodging she was wearing the same outfit that she was last seen in and she was found at a palm tree farm because the jewelry that she was wearing at the time was also found as well as some sort of string or rope authorities are narrowing down her death as Jang taking her own life however the same thing happened to a man in his 60s on July 12th where families reported him missing similarly they received a call a few hours later saying that oh but he doesn't want the family to know where he is closes the case and he was found dead 51 days later Officer Bu who closed two of those cases has a record of domestic violence from 2023 and just one week before the Jang allegations surfaced he was booked for entering the women's restroom at his own station and he was on some sort of probation what's also mind blowing is that there has been 298 missing persons cases closed during the 17 months that he was on the Missing Persons team which police are now going back to review Officer Bu is currently being charged for two cases Jang Miran and the man in his 60s investigators have narrowed their review to 10 cases that Officer Bu closed for himself in the missing person's profile system there are a lot of speculations going on on what the cause of this all is but what's certain is that even locals living in Jeju Island are warning people to not go on walks by yourself especially during the night Koreans are actively cancelling their upcoming Jeju trips
