I go to Marsa's vineyard every August and I go to these amazing events and I'm always so surprised to be Meryanne Loum-Martin, and I think the only non-American, everyone is African American there. Everyone is fantastic there. And I'm thinking, how come I go to Paris and I can be in an event where, you know, there's phenomenal people from Senegal, but then there's no one from the US or no one from, you know, from, you know, and I realized how much the black groups lived in silos and that it is very important that we stop living in silos because now in 2026, more than ever, it is very important that we connect, we network, and we do things together. Because we have reached a level of entrepreneurship, of achievement in many, many different fields, and it is very important to be able to work together. Because by working together, we go further together. And by not taking this into consideration, we continue to play the game of the colonizer and the oppressors who did not want us to know each other, you know? Because from the moment you know each other, you can do things together. So I had the idea to create the diaspora salon and I have fantastic co-curators and I also use also since we opened, we have always done cultural events around authors, mostly of the time, writers. But now that's the salon has a broader meaning and it's also anchored into black creativity.
