Hook

It wasn't until I got into a white sorority in college that I recognized that white women play by different rules in their friendships and in loyalty. And I've seen this in a lot of different hyper-elite spaces I've been in, and it makes total sense because as Black women, our sisterhood is often the only thing that is protecting us, the only thing we have to fall back on, the only thing that is keeping us from truly drowning in a world that is setting us up to fail every single day. It just really hurts my soul because I really wish that there could be a depth and a richness that was experienced by this demographic, obviously. None of us are surprised. We're all disappointed, but we're not surprised because we've seen this before. As someone who has really struggled, especially over the last two years, with men just wanting to experience me or using me in some way or shape or form, I really relate to what Sierra is going through. I hate that. I hate that being a successful, amazing Black woman gets you destroyed instead of like the beauty of life that we were promised if we were just perfect enough. Like, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. And it's like so hard to watch. But the only thing that's giving me hope is that we rally around each other. The one thing that I've ever learned is don't expect things from people that you know they can't give. I think it's just really heavy. It's just really heavy.
