Can I share the real reason your ADHD child seems so angry, rude, defiant, or oppositional? Imagine this. You arrive at work tomorrow morning and your boss says, “In 26 minutes, I need you to present to the board… in Finnish.” You look at them and say, “But I don’t speak Finnish.” They reply, “Well, you’re just going to have to try harder. Put in more effort. Focus. Stop making excuses.” How would you react? Would you stay calm? Probably not. You’d feel frustrated, overwhelmed, maybe even angry. You’d want to walk away because you were being expected to do something you simply weren’t capable of doing. Now imagine feeling like that every single day. That is the reality for many children with ADHD. They are constantly being asked to do things their brain is not yet developmentally ready to do. ADHD is a developmental delay of the prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain responsible for planning, getting started, managing emotions, remembering instructions, organizing, and stopping before reacting. So when your child lashes out, argues, refuses, or melts down, what if it isn’t because they’re choosing to be difficult? What if they’re communicating, “I can’t do what you’re asking of me with the brain I have right now.” That doesn’t mean we lower expectations. It means we stop expecting skills they haven’t learned yet and start teaching them how. That’s exactly what I’m going to show you in my FREE ADHD Parenting Masterclass this Thursday. Because once you understand why your child behaves the way they do, you’ll finally know what to do about it. Link is in the comments.#adhd #adhdparenting #adhdmom #adhdtiktok #adhddad
