The solution to ending power struggles with your ADHD child—whether they’re 6 or 26—is ONE sentence. One sentence. ✅Said with conviction. ✅Said without yelling, explaining, defending or negotiating. It’s the sentence I learned to use with my own kids. It’s the sentence I’ve taught thousands of parents inside my 5-week ADHD Parenting Bootcamp. And it works because what you are really saying is: I am not afraid of your emotions.” Your child can be angry. They can be disappointed. They can complain, push back, argue, slam doors, tell you it’s unfair. And you don’t have to join them there. 📣📣 Because THAT is where most power struggles go wrong. We think the goal is to get our child to stop being upset. So we explain. They argue. We explain harder. They get louder. We defend the boundary. They negotiate. And suddenly you’re 20 minutes into an argument you never intended to have. Here’s the part most parents miss: The power struggle requires two people. When you stop participating, you disrupt the entire pattern. You hold the boundary. You say the sentence. And then you STOP ENGAGING. No convincing. No defending. No 47 different explanations. No trying to make them agree with your boundary. Their emotions are allowed to exist. And your boundary is allowed to exist at the exact same time. Now, knowing this and actually being able to DO IT when your child is losing their mind are two completely different things. Trust me. I get it. I am you. I had to learn how to stop being afraid of my kids’ emotions. I had to learn how to stop getting sucked into the argument loop. And that is exactly why I teach parents how to do this now. Because once you stop trying to control their emotional response, parenting changes. So you can keep repeating the same argument loop that is exhausting everyone… Or you can learn how to disrupt it. My next 5-week ADHD Parenting Bootcamp starts Tuesday, August 25. And yes you need to learn how. Drop BOOTCAMP below and I’ll send you the details.#adhd #adhdparenting #adhdkids #adhdtiktok #adhdsupport
