ARE I'D MY SELF These are 5 coding tips I'd tell my 18-year-old self. 1. Coding is very hard at first. It's so easy to get discouraged and give up. But honestly after hours of coding projects, NeetCode work, it kind of clicks all of a sudden and that's when coding actually becomes fun. 2. Do not just learn how to code. Your computer science classes won't teach you what you actually need to get a job. So spend time learning the relevant skills like CICD, system design, and you will actually be able to get a job. 3. SE interviews are harder than the job itself. For this, master the blind 75 because big tech companies reuse questions all the time. Then Abdul Bari, Michael Sambol on YouTube, NeetCode will be your best friends. 4. Project based learning is key. Do not get stuck in tutorials. The single best way to learn how to code is by actually building out your own projects from scratch. Pick a problem that you want solved in your own life and build a solution that will solve it. Alright... and finally 5. Get an internship. Do everything in your power to land that first. The easiest way into a six figure job is through a return offer. You only have one or two interview rounds compared to the four to six for new grad rules. Network, attend your career fairs, go to Hackathons, do everything in your power to land that first.
