I've seen a lot of conversation about the content I posted about going to the food bank. I wanted to provide some context because I think there has been misunderstanding. The food bank I visited is the University of Guelph student food bank. It's a campus resource run by our student association to support students. So it is not a public food bank that anybody can just walk in. It's specifically for students to be eligible to use the food bank before we can use the food bank. I also noticed a lot of people saying I shouldn't use the food bank because I'm an international student. But the program eligibility does not based on whether I am an international student or a domestic student. It's based on the university eligibility criteria. Another thing people don't know is that the graduate food bank actually is included in our student fees. That doesn't mean everybody has to use it. It's if if you're approved, then you can use the food bank. I shared this video because it's just part of my life as an international student in Canada. I didn't have any intention to encourage anybody to misuse the system or take resources away from people that also use the system. Using a resource that my university provided to eligible students doesn't mean I am taking advantage of the system. I completely understand that people have different opinions about the food bank and immigration. I just think it's really important for everybody to understand something, how the system works, how for assumptions about people using the system. I hope this provides some context.
