I shared that my husband and I's weekly budget for food is $350 and the comments are like, oh my gosh, who needs $350 for food in a week? That would pay for this. Like nobody needs that much. People only need $75 for food for a week. Like that's all you need. That's all you need. That's so much money. How do you spend that much money? Short answer is we don't usually spend all of that $350. That's why whatever's left in the food budget gets split between our fun spending accounts. If our budget every week was like $350, that's just enough to cover food. Then that system wouldn't really work for us. But also, we like to eat out a lot. That's the main thing. We don't do DoorDash, we always like physically go to the place to get the food. Um, but he and I just really suck at meal planning. We're slowly getting better at it and I am finding meals that I am capable and willing to make at home, which is something that I personally struggle with. I find food and eating food in convenient, and I just eat meals so that I don't get headaches and that I can like function well enough as a human. But yeah, that's just, that's just how we do it. But yeah, just because the budget is $350, it doesn't mean I'm saying we need $350. Plus, the $350 includes like not only groceries, but also sweet treats if we go to a restaurant, if we go out with friends, like anything consumable falls under the food category. So yeah, some weeks we're really good about eating at home and we have more excess money. Some weeks, we're not. Some weeks we're really lazy. But yeah, just because the budget is $350, it doesn't mean we need $350. Plus, the $350 includes like not only groceries, but also sweet treats if we go to a restaurant, if we go out with friends, like anything consumable falls under the food category.
