You’re losing money because nobody taught you this. I wasn’t even supposed to post this. This is one of those lessons I normally keep for people who are serious about growing their business. But after seeing the same mistake over and over again, I realized too many people are losing money simply because nobody ever taught them this. So I’m sharing it today. Here is the lesson. Most people think they lose money because they don’t have enough clients. That is not the real reason. The real reason is that they don’t understand how people make decisions. Business is not only about having a great product or service. It is about understanding people. The person who understands people better will almost always attract more clients than the person who only talks about what they do. Think about these two business owners. The first one says, “My service costs ₦50,000.” The second one says, “Before I recommend anything, can I ask a few questions so I can understand exactly what you’re trying to achieve?” Both of them offer a service. Both of them may even have the same level of skill. But the second person immediately makes the client feel understood. That is psychology. Every human being wants to feel understood before they make a decision. The brain naturally pays more attention to people who show genuine interest than people who simply try to explain themselves. When you ask good questions, something powerful happens. The client stops feeling like they are being sold to. Instead, they feel like someone truly wants to help them. That changes everything. Most people don’t choose the first person who speaks. They choose the person who understands their problem. This works for every business. Whether you are a designer, photographer, video editor, fashion designer, consultant, coach, barber, makeup artist, developer, agency owner, or any other service provider, the principle is exactly the same. People trust understanding before they trust ability. This is why two people can offer the exact same service at the exact same price, yet one gets ignored while the other keeps getting clients. The difference is not talent. The difference is communication. Many business owners think communication is just talking. It isn’t. Communication is making someone feel safe enough to trust you. And trust is what opens wallets. Here is something many people don’t know. A client does not always choose the cheapest option. A client chooses the option that makes them feel the most confident about their decision. That confidence comes from trust. And trust comes from understanding. Even when a client has a small budget, understanding them helps you find a solution that works instead of losing the conversation completely. Instead of hearing, “You’re too expensive.” You may hear, “This is all I can afford right now.” Now you are having a real conversation instead of losing a potential client. That is the power of understanding people. So before you explain your service, understand the person. Before you give a price, understand the problem. Before you try to convince, make the client feel understood. That one habit alone can completely change the way people respond to you. If this one lesson changed the way you think, imagine what you will learn inside The Client Code.
