Here 5 signs you need to start applying for a new job.. yesterday Number one, your company is going through hiring freezes, cuts to the budget, or a lot of large reorgs. These are telltale signs that there may be layoffs coming, so it's best to get your resume updated and start applying. Number two, you are not able to hit your financial goals. Expenses are getting higher, raises are getting lower. I believe the best way to get ahead at your 9 to 5 is still job hopping. Now the data says increases from job hopping with jobs staying. However, that doesn't take into account the full view of your benefits. Maybe you go from an in-office job to a remote job and you can cut costs significantly. Maybe your company matches your 401k at 3% and the new one matches it at 10%. It's always a good thing to just put some feelers out. Number three, you're bored. At the end of the day, a job is a job, but when you stop learning and growing, it becomes stagnant. That can become a dangerous thing. Number four, everything is a fire drill. When everything at work is the most important thing, you have to get done right away. It becomes so overwhelming, it leads to burnout. It's not worth it. And number five, you get the Sunday scaries. Don't have to look forward to work, but you shouldn't dread going to work every single week. Believe it or not, there are jobs out there that don't make you hate your life, so it's worth it to at least try to find one.
