I want another cat. Here's how I'm budgeting for their little brother or sister. The first thing I'm doing is finding a pet insurance plan. All of our animals have pet insurance. It is a non-negotiable for me. I don't want to be worried about using my entire emergency fund for a pet emergency. I mean, I would, but I have pet insurance. I don't have to. And with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance, there's plan options that fit into any budget. Next, I'll need to increase my vet sinking fund. Right now I save around $300 a year for my two boys, so with another kitten, I will probably round this up to $500 to be safe. And then finally, I need to increase my pet food budget. My boys are so picky and they don't react well to cheaper food, unfortunately. So we're spending like $250 a month on cat food. I definitely need to increase this. I'm thinking around $350 a month to start and then I'll monitor my spending from there. Getting a new pet is so exciting, but don't forget to prepare for the cost so they get the care that they deserve. So go to healthypaws.com today to find a plan that works for your family.
