I'm 22 years old and I have over $10,000 in my savings account, so welcome to my Finance Friday series and today we're going to be talking about savings accounts. I'm going to be going over a regular savings account and a high-yield savings account specifically. In a high-yield savings account you're earning more interest, meaning that you're doubling your money and making more at the end of the year. Meanwhile in a regular savings account you're earning less interest and not making as much. Regular savings account you might have a 0.5% interest, maybe 1%. Meanwhile a high-yield savings account you might have like 3 or 4 or 5, depending on which bank you use. If you had $10,000 and at the end of the year it was in a savings account you would only earn $5 of interest, meanwhile in a high-yield savings account you would have earned $400. So do yourself a favor and open up that high-yield savings account.
