People actually think my Nigerian accent is fake. I actually think that moving to a different country can make you feel like the funniest person in one room and completely invisible in another. If you're new here, hello, I'm Marvella and I was born and raised in Nigeria. I've been in the US for over seven years. And until today, all I have to do is make one statement and you would know that I am somewhat African. Now imagine when I initially moved here, I'll show you. So if I do not get to answer your question in this video, there's going to be too much later. I know, cringey. Coming here straight into high school. You know, they're the high school kids being mean. I already knew that though, so I wasn't the most talkative. I probably only had like four friends. I didn't even want to give anybody the chance to bully me. I had enough of that. I'm also an only child, so there wasn't really anyone I could relate to. I think that reallyジンgered me to pick up my camera and yeah, at the time I was probably 15, so I didn't think I was gonna have a job, but I knew we needed money though. My mom used to do hair, so I picked up on that and that became my side hustle. Oh, God, those videos were so cringey. Like watching it now, I'm like, I see why they were laughing at you, girl. I'm glad I didn't stop me though. You want to know something funny though? Every single year, I get dragged for supposedly faking my Nigerian accent. Can you actually imagine? I'm at the point where I take it as a compliment because you adopted that well. For you to believe that my Nigerian accent is fake, I ate that. You know, sometimes it's good to get out of your comfort zone. Even though I was young when I moved out here, there were still moments when I was like, I miss home. But I definitely saw the bigger picture. I was excited to go to college, which I did make a lot of friends at. We'll talk about that later. Also, out here, there's actually so much to catch up on. The movies, the shows, I've still known what couple of them. A lot of them. Sometimes when people reference certain things, I'm like, I don't know what you're talking about. I know people get mad when I do that. Still learning though. Not too much. I'm at the point where I'm like, I'm not gonna let that stop me. Shameless plug: my brand is dropping setting sprays soon! So much has changed. And a lot of you guys that are new here, and I just want to share my journey, you know? I do got to go. So I will see you guys in the next video.
