I'm going on a date with who I actually think is my dream man, so let's get ready together. I'm supposed to be at our dinner spot at 7:30 and it's already 6:45, so I really need to hurry up. This is actually a guy that I've known for years because we went to college together at Dartmouth, but we never dated or anything in college and it always felt kind of like a misconnection. I'm traveling and this is the only palette I brought, so I guess I'm going purple and smoky. We were of course friends and stuff during college, but it's been so many years that I feel like, oh my god, do I even really still know this person? And y'all know I really don't like to date, so this is going to be a wild experience because this is my first date in months and I'm doing it in New York, not on my turf. He works in high finance, if you know, you know. It's going to be so nice to be on a date with a man I know is my educational as well as financial equal. As an Ivy League grad, black woman working in tech, that is way harder than it should be. I'm hating the way my makeup looks, but I need to leave in 15 minutes, so I have to turn this into not a clown show very quickly. Oh my god. Side note, I'm staying at the Chatwal, this is my dream hotel bathroom. There's a huge full-size mirror to the right of me. If you've been to hotels, you know that's an issue to find. And also, there's so much counter space. Hotel bathrooms, especially in New York, never have enough counter space. I would never recommend that you stay here just because the location is so horrible, but this bathroom alone might be worth booking for again. Every time I come to New York, I leave thinking that I need to move here. The city just has such good and different energy, and the levels of employment seem normal unlike LA where nobody seems to have a job. I don't know. I feel like New York is calling to me. But then every time I go to someone's apartment in New York, I'm like, this is not real life. I went to one of my coworker's apartments after work yesterday. Girl, how do you live in a shoebox? Honestly, dream scenario, I figure out a way to be bicoastal and hopefully after this date, we'll see if I need to make that a reality. Oh my god, I only have 10 minutes. I've been seeing so much pressed powder before loose powder propaganda on my timeline. Cut that shit out. It does not work, it will crease, you will look worse. Put the loose powder on first. I totally forgot that I would need hair products and I came on this trip, so I am just making do with whatever I can in terms of my hair. Hopefully, it doesn't look too crazy. We're almost complete with the makeup. I'm going to do one last setting spray, but before then, I'm going to use this Elf lip gloss. I've kind of been loving the no liner look lately. I feel like it just looks so healthy and juicy. This is the final look. I think I did pretty okay considering I left so many products at home, including my eyebrow pencil, this is eyeliner. I'm wearing a suede short set and then these black Steve Madden knockoff fry boots. And that's the final look.
