Sometimes I wish we could hit rewind to 2005. 🥹📼✨ Life just felt… simpler. 📱 A gallon of gas averaged around $2.30. 🏠 The average home cost was about $240,000. 🥚 A dozen eggs? Around $1.30. ☕ A Starbucks drink was under $4. 🎵 We were burning CDs, downloading ringtones, and arguing over who had the best MySpace song. 😂 For a lot of us in the Black community, 2005 was also a cultural moment. We were watching 106 & Park every afternoon, quoting The Boondocks, rocking Baby Phat, Rocawear, Apple Bottoms, and fitted caps, and if your ringtone wasn’t Lil Wayne, Destiny’s Child, T.I., or Kanye… were you even outside? 😭🔥 Back then, people actually knocked on your door instead of texting “I’m outside.” We made memories instead of content. Family cookouts lasted all day, church was packed on Sundays, and conversations happened face-to-face instead of in the comments. Maybe life wasn’t perfect… but it sure felt lighter.
