An ant moat is a simple, highly effective cup-like device that hangs between your feeder and the branch or shepherd’s hook. • By filling the moat with water, you create a barrier that ants cannot cross, effectively protecting your nectar from pests! • Ants are naturally attracted to the sweet sugar water inside your hummingbird feeder and will crawl down the hook to reach it. • When they encounter the water-filled moat, they cannot swim across or climb upside down through the water, stopping them in their tracks! • How to Use a Moat: 1) Attach the top of the ant moat to your hanging hook or tree branch using its built-in hook or wire. 2) Pour plain water into the cup. Note: Do not add any chemicals or oils to the water, as these can be harmful to birds. 3) Hang your hummingbird feeder from the hook on the bottom of the ant moat. 4) Check the moat every few days, as the water can evaporate quickly in hot weather. Refill as needed and occasionally wash out debris. • These hummingbird feeders are from my friends @kingsyard_official!
