Do y'all remember that video of that girl getting proposed to at Chick-fil-A, and everybody was dragging her because she told him to get up, grabbed his hand, and walk straight out? I'm sorry. I would have done the exact same thing. Because no husband of mine is proposing to me in a Chick-fil-A. And before anybody starts with, "It's the thought that counts." Yes, it is. But the thought should have been a little better than a no. "1 combo with waffle fries." So I made a list of places and situations where I personally never want to get proposed to. First off, holidays. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter. Absolutely not. Everybody's already together. It feels so lazy. Like you couldn't plan one separate day to make the proposal its own moment. Now we're sharing the spotlight with Grandma's casserole and the kids opening presents. And then I found out the video happened on her birthday. Her birthday? Absolutely not. Why are we combining my birthday and my engagement into one event now? I can't celebrate my birthday without also celebrating you proposing. Those are two separate occasions. Give me two reasons to get dressed up and have fun. Not one. And I can't believe I even have to say this, but any fast food restaurant is automatically off the list. McDonald's? No. Chick-fil-A? No. Burger King? Absolutely not. Wendy's? No. If I can hear somebody yell, "Order 47 while you're asking me to marry you? We've already messed up." I'm not saying you have to spend a million dollars. I don't need fireworks or a private island. But I do need you to put some thought into it. Because if your proposal looks like it could have happened during a lunch break, I'm gonna have questions.
