I remember using toothpaste, rubbing it around a few times and washing it off. Worked most of the time for my Xbox 360 games. Came here to comment the same thing lol. Rubbing toothpaste on CDs is like a core memory. I remember rubbing toothpaste on a scratched disc to fix it. Yeah, please do not do this. Now, some people think that when you put toothpaste on a disc, it fills in the scratches, which makes it work again. Except that's not really what's going on here. You see, the real reason this works is because toothpaste is abrasive, meaning it slightly files down the surface, which in turn resurfades the disc. And when the toothpaste resurfades the disc, it buffs out the scratches, which makes the disc readable. Here's the thing. Remember in the last video when I said a manual resurfacer because they're uneven? Using toothpaste is infinitely less even. You're literally just rubbing an abrasive paste across the disc with your finger. A lot of times this one end up causing more scratches and if the scratches are deep, it won't do anything at all. And I know this tricks sometimes works on CDs and DVDs, but just know that if you do this on a Blu-ray, it will completely destroy the disc. This is why professional resuscer are by far superior.
