we just got paid so it's time to make an extra mortgage payment. we personally choose to keep our money in our offset account rather than paying directly on the loan we used and it was really motivating seeing that balance like physically lower. there's like certain tax implications if we were to turn this house into an investment property and we just we wanna keep our options open. also means our money is like a little bit more accessible than being in our redraw. obviously like do your own research that's just the route that we've decided to go down. now will we have this house paid off by the time we're ready to move again?? probably not. but any extra that we can pay off now means that we'll have a lower mortgage in our new house. so it's a win-win situation if you ask me. um today we're making an extra payment of $4,500 which will shave 6 months and 18 days off the life of our loan and save us over $19,000 in interest. so it's not just $4,500 like that's potentially $19,000 that we're saving in the long run. um and that also means we've hit our big 2026 money goal which is so exciting the fact that we've done one in July is incredible. we wanted to make an extra $30,000 in repayments and we've even managed to do that this year has been far more lucrative than I think either of us were expecting. um nick got a new job with a substantial pay rise. I've managed to keep up with work whilst being a new mum. um if anything I've been flourishing which I'm so grateful for. so yeah very lucky and so far this year we've saved $127,216.64 and taken 3 years, 7 months and 15 days off the life of our loan which is huge like amazing incredible so proud of us. that to me is so motivating like that is my why.
