If you're a founder with a SaaS SaaS startup, come to the front. I want us to have an honest conversation. Why do you think it's hard for Kenyans to pay for subscription services like Netflix, Spotify, ChatGPT? Huh? The business here are actually that pay for AI subscriptions like at a Microsoft, Canva. Why do you think it's so hard for Kenyans to pay for your subscription service or product? Cause from this angle from I'm from where I'm sitting from my angle from my view, I think I have a few reasons why in no particular order of course, and please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like no. 1, we have trust issues. So what can you do to prove to me that I can trust your business? What will you like, how will you prove to me that you'll be there tomorrow? Do you get what I mean? No. 2, I feel like your software is not seen as a necessity. And what I mean by this is it doesn't seem to be making my work or my life easier. Okay? No. 3, your product or service is a nice nice to have product. You know, if you remove it from my life right now, does it hurt me significantly? Like, is there a big chance that it will hurt me at all? You know, am I am I making sense? And also no. 4, I feel like you have poor product market fit. And I think this is one of the biggest problem. Um, and you can identify these quickly uh, during the discovery stage or the MVP stage. I've talked about founding stages before. If you haven't, please go watch it. If you want me to talk about it and a fresh and new I can talk about it. And maybe a tip that I, that I think can help is I've noticed many successful international SaaS companies don't try to monetize immediately. They first get you hooked. Uh, call it value addition if you will. Um, I feel like the likes of ChatGPT, Cloud, Canva, Netflix, etc. do that. They give you freemiums or a free trial something. Anyway, I still want to hear your thoughts on this. And I want to understand why do you think SaaS startups in Kenya don't work really well? Talk to me.
