THE SWAG IS A ALL INCLUSIVE, ADULTS ONLY MOUNTAIN RESORT OUTSIDE OF ASHEVILLE, NEAR WAYNESVILLE, AND IT IS STILL ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCES THAT I'VE EVER HAD IN NORTH CAROLINA. IT IS BEAUTIFUL. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS, THE SERVICE IS IMPECCABLE. THEY HAVE EXCURSIONS AND ALL THESE LIKE SUPER COOL NICHE THINGS TO DO AND IT'S JUST IT'S BEEN MY FAVOURITE EXPERIENCE IN NORTH CAROLINA. NEXT IS DOING A HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE IN STATESVILLE. UH, STATESVILLE HAS THIS LONG HISTORY OF HOT AIR BALLOONING AND UH THERE'S BALLOON FESTIVAL TOO DO THAT INSTEAD OF BOOKING THE FULL TRIP. BUT I DO THINK THAT THERE IS SOMETHING EXHILARATING ABOUT BEING UNTETHERED IN A HOT IN THE AIR, THE SILENCE AND THE MOST EXHILARATING PART IS THE LANDING. UM, I DID THIS BACK IN 2020 AND I'M HOPING TO DO IT AGAIN THIS YEAR WAIT TO DO IT. IT'S TERRIFYING AND SO MUCH FUN. OKAY, SO THE AN EXPERIENCE THAT YET EXPERIENCED EXPENSIVE AND I'M HOPING TO. I DON'T KNOW. ONE DAY WIN THE LOTTERY AND DO IT AND THAT IS THE FULL DINNER EXPERIENCE AT HERON'S AT THE UMSTEAD. UM, IN MY OPINION THEY SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A MICHELIN STAR. UM, HAD DINNER. AND IT'S JUST TOP OF THE TOP EXCELLENCE IN FOOD AND DINING. BUT I'VE HEARD MUCH WORTH THE PRICE. OKAY, SO EXPENSIVE CAN ALSO MEAN WITH YOUR TIME. RIGHT? I WILL ALWAYS SAY THAT THE DRIVE AND THE FERRY RIDE TO OCRACOKE IS WORTH THE TIME AND THE EXPENSE THAT IT TAKES TO GET THERE. UM, FROM DURHAM, IT'S A LIKE FIVE HOUR DRIVE. GOT A FERRY RIDE, AND THEN YOU'RE THERE, BUT YOU'RE LIKE, THERE. AND OCRACOKE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PRISTINE ISLAND, AND YOU CAN JUST RIDE BIKES AROUND AND IT TRULY FEELS UNTOUCHED. THAT AND IT'S ONE OF THE MOST MAGICAL PLACES IN NORTH CAROLINA. I THINK IS ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE AND TAKES TO GET THERE. LASTLY, AGAIN, MAYBE THIS ISN'T EXPENSIVE IN TYPICAL TERMS. BUT I THINK ONE OF THE BEST WAYS THAT YOU CAN EXPLORE NORTH CAROLINA, ESPECIALLY A NEW AREA IS THROUGH A FOOD TOUR. AND FOOD TOURS CAN BE KIND BECAUSE YOU ARE PAYING FOR STOPS AT MULTIPLE PLACES. BUT IT REALLY DOES GIVE YOU A REALLY GREAT, UH INSIGHT INTO THE RESTAURANT OWNERS AND A GOOD SAMPLING OF THEIR MENU SO THAT YOU CAN DECIDE THESE ARE RESTAURANTS THAT YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO. I am a full time North Carolina travel and content creator and here are five things that I think are worth the price in North Carolina. The swag is an all inclusive, adults only mountain resort outside of Asheville, near Waynesville, and it is still one of the most incredible experiences that I've ever had in North Carolina. It is beautiful. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable. They have excursions and all these like super cool niche things to do and it's just it's been my favourite experience in North Carolina. Next is doing a hot air balloon ride in Statesville. Uh, Statesville has this long history of hot air ballooning and uh there's balloon festival too. Do that instead of booking the full trip. But I do think that there is something exhilarating about being untethered in a hot in the air, the silence and the most exhilarating part is the landing. Um, I did this back in 2020 and I'm hoping to do it again this year. Wait to do it. It's terrifying and so much fun. Okay, so the an experience that yet experienced expensive and I'm hoping to. I don't know. One day win the lottery and do it and that is the full dinner experience at Heron's at the Umstead. Um, in my opinion, they should have gotten a Michelin star. Um, had dinner. And it's just top of the top excellence in food and dining. But I've heard much worth the price. Okay, so expensive can also mean with your time. Right? I will always say that the drive and the ferry ride to Ocracoke is worth the time and the expense that it takes to get there. Um, from Durham, it's a like five hour drive. Got a ferry ride, and then you're there, but you're like, there. And Ocracoke is the most beautiful pristine island, and you can just ride bikes around and it truly feels untouched. That and it's one of the most magical places in North Carolina. I think is absolutely worth the and takes to get there. Lastly, again, maybe this isn't expensive in typical terms. But I think one of the best ways that you can explore North Carolina, especially a new area is through a food tour. And food tours can be pricey because you are paying for stops at multiple places. But it really does give you a really great, uh insight into the restaurant owners and a good sampling of their menu so that you can decide these are restaurants that you want to go back to.
